At Sony’s E3 conference yesterday Capcom surprised us all with the announcement of the seventh Resident Evil game, complete with a trailer, release date and even a demo that is live right now on the Playstation 4 store. I completed the demo, entitled ‘Beginning Hour’, this morning. As you’ll see from the trailer below, Resident Evil VII mixes up the Resi formula considerably, moving to a first-person perspective and returning to the terrifying survival horror roots the series used to be known for. It’s also beautiful (in that maggot infested, rotting flesh kind of way.)

So for Playstation Plus owners I urge you to try the demo out, especially if you were as upset as I was when Silent Hills and Allison Road (two incredibly similar games) were cancelled. The full game releases on the 24th of January 2017 and has full VR support, in case this horrific new chapter wasn’t scary enough.
