Valkyria Chronicles Remastered Review

War Never Changes: Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is the latest in a long line of surprisingly old games getting the 1080p/60fps treatment for current consoles. As a huge fan of the original and its PSP sequel, I can only hope this might mean the series has a future on western shores. Story: Valkyria Chronicles story is identical to the one 2008’s original PS3 release told. It’s a twist on World W...[Read More]

Shadow Complex Remastered Review

Hello Jason My Old Friend: When Shadow Complex first came out nearly seven years ago it really wowed me. The Xbox Arcade was still a relatively young place for smaller titles to find a home on consoles and become budget hits – something that hadn’t really been possible before. Shadow Complex was a very polished title for such a reasonable price, so much so that it instantly became a classic. It ha...[Read More]

The Walking Dead: Michonne Episode 3: What We Deserve Review

What We Deserve: As Telltale’s first stab at a shortform version of their wildly successful adventure games, is the third and final episode of Michonne what we deserve? Story: Michonne is, front and center, a story about mental illness. It’s a brave subject to tackle, especially in the medium of videogames that often finds its emotional impact lacking and true player empathy hard to achieve, but T...[Read More]

Enter The Gungeon Review

Going Deeper Underground: Enter the Gungeon might look like any other roguelike from a distance. The genre has become very popular recently, thanks in no small part to the popularity of these types of games on Twitch and other game-streaming sites. The formula works brilliantly for audiences, watching their favourite streamers to see just how far they can get before they finally bite the dust. If ...[Read More]

Stikbold! Review

Stikbold!: Stikbold! is the latest in a long line of multiplayer-focused indie games. Luckily, I have a dedicated group of friends whose quiet evenings in are made much louder with such offerings, so we were thrilled to try out the new, incredibly odd looking (and oddly named) Stikbold. We were very glad we did. Story: It’s the dodgeball tournament, and Jerome and Bjorn are in the finals! Only pro...[Read More]

Dark Souls III Review

From From Soft With Love: Hype is a dangerous thing. The Souls series has, in my opinion, gone from strength to strength since Demon Souls, the franchise’s first title. With developer From Software now putting out annual releases, fans have been anxious to see if the team can maintain their staple quality and attention to detail. Somehow – I really don’t know how – they have done it again with Dar...[Read More]
